Chapter 20 – Torch-crafting Skill
A whistling wind blows from the darkness. It’s so deep that I can’t see the end. I was surprised. I never thought there would be a cave like this on this uninhabited island.
“If things are like this, I should have brought Skor and Alfred with me.”
I muttered to myself.
“Yes, what is it?”
“Uwah!!!”
Skor suddenly replied.
Where did she come from!!
And Alfred is with her, too.
“I’m sorry, Rasty-sama. I had a bad feeling, so…”
“Anyway, never mind that. I was thinking of entering this suspicious natural cave, but I don’t feel safe going in alone, so please help me.”
Both Skor and Alfred nodded.
If it’s a dungeon, it’s better to have more people. More importantly, we don’t have any healing items. There are only risks of danger. If Skor is with us, we can receive ‘heal’ and recovery will be easier.
“Rasty-san, I’ve collected a lot of ‘raspberries’ for food!”
Skor handed out a large amount of raspberries. She must have collected a lot. Alfred probably helped too. It’s an incredible number.
“Again? Well, they’re sweet and sour and tasty though. At least, it also recovers a small amount of physical strength.”
I got “35” raspberries. I ate “5” of them. ……Yeah, they’re delicious. Fresh and sour taste is irresistible. I was getting addicted to it.
This isn’t so bad. Apparently, raspberries grow naturally in the forest on this island, and even if we pick a lot of them, they’ll return to normal in just one day. The power of nature, or rather its vitality, is amazing and should not be underestimated.
I also shared some with Alfred and had him get in top condition… Now, it’s finally time to enter the “cave”. There’s a possibility that the wild boar monster “Safeleamnir” has made a nest inside.
We advance steadily, one step at a time, but it feels like we’re heading towards a one-way ticket to heck. The wind is cold and water droplets keep dripping down from above.
“…Hyaa!”
It seemed that Skoll’s head was hit, and she trembled and screamed. Furthermore, Alfred too ――
“Nyoo!?”
Nyoo… you don’t have to be surprised like that. Even so, the light is gradually decreasing and it’s getting dim. This is causing poor visibility. It’s going to be difficult to move forward.
“…I see, a torch… is needed.”
“Rasty-sama, I had a feeling something like this might happen, so I made a ‘torch’.”
Alfred took out a splendid torch. Wait, where did he take it from? From an item box?
“What’s going on with this?”
“Actually, I have a ‘torch-crafting skill’… It’s a remnant from my days as a knight.”
“Seriously? You have that kind of skill?”
“Yes, the empire was at war with many countries. Lighting was necessary, especially during nighttime battles.”
I see. Alfred was undoubtedly a valuable asset in battle.
Let’s light the “torch” right away.
First, I place the torch on the ground. Then I struck the Gale Tulle against a rock, creating sparks through the friction. It was a splendid success, and the torch was lit. it was a piece of cake thanks to my high stats.
Now we have good visibility.
